to obtain the necessary knowledge on how to use products
in the most effective way.
We want to assist you to use the product you subscribe to effectively,
by getting the correct results quickly and effectively. Our training
courses per product are designed for this purpose and the free training
manual is an excellent reference source after completion of the
course.
Our Training Approach
Product training is available only to Sabinet clients and is free of charge. (Excludes travel costs)
We believe in training for impact, we believe our training will assist and equip you in serving your clients with excellence. To ensure the latter we would like to consult with you first before you make a booking, thus assisting you in choosing the most suitable courses. Training Courses that we provide
SabiCat Training
SabiCat training is offered to clients using the OCLC Connexion service based on WorldCat database. It is designed to teach clients how to do advanced searching on WorldCat and to create new records on WorldCat.
(Prerequisites - you need attend the MARC21 course (offered by the MARC Office))

ReQuest Training
At present,
we are offering 1½ day courses for new users of ReQuest, as well
as one day refresher courses for users who have received ReQuest
training before. (The refresher course is aimed at assisting users
to adapt to the new ReQuest interface that was launched in February
2002.)

The tips & techniques sessions concentrate on demonstrating
"best ways to use the system" as well as pointing out
time-savers and short cuts. These sessions will be held
for the different products such as Ingenta,
First Search and SA Media.

Finding Books & Articles
This course is a dynamic interactive, hands on course which focuses on helping you find books and articles when using our
Online Reference services.
Finding Books & Articles covers the following databases:
- SACat Plus
- SA Citations
- SA Media
- SA ePublications
This course focuses on:
- Search techniques like boolean, command searching, proximity, etc
- databases available under Online References and what information can be found in them.
- available features, such as saving items for printing or e-mailing, limiting searches, setting displays, etc.

Finding Legal Information
This is a basic introductory course for any person who
has to retrieve information from the Bill Tracker
or Policy documents products, SA
Gazettes, NetLaw or SA
Legal, but who does not necessarily have a legal
background.
This course focuses on the search principles and special features of the legal
products that are offered by Sabinet.
