Hosted Listservs |
To reduce the risk of a virus contaminating a mailing list, and to
eliminate SPAM messages to the lists there are some
restrictions that apply to all lists.
A message that does not apply to these restrictions will be blocked:
- The maximum size of any message is 20 000 characters. This is around two A4 pages of typed text.
- Messages should be written in plain text only. No html message can be posted to a list.
- No attachments can be sent on a list. This includes images, MS Office documents, etc.
- Only subscribers to a list can place a message on the list.
Newsletters and other attachments
We are aware that some of the interest groups used to send their newsletters on their list for members to read. This was normally done by attaching the file (MS Word document, PDF file, etc.) to a message on the list.
With the new restrictions, this will not be possible any more.
