SabiCat is the most comprehensive acquisitions and cataloguing
support service in Southern Africa. It not only increases productivity
by saving time and money but in so doing also allows libraries
to provide a better service to their users.
SabiCat
is a fully integrated cataloguing support service offering
support in all aspects of cataloguing from the order stage
through to the catalogue entry stage.
The SabiCat service is based on two main bibliographic
databases, SACat (representing
most library stock in Southern Africa) and WorldCat (the
most comprehensive bibliographic resource in the world).
SabiCat Services
The SabiCat service was migrated to a new platform namely the OCLC
Connexion Service based on the WorldCat database.
Cataloguers work on WorldCat and copy records to their local systems. These records are downloaded to SACat and can be searched through our Online Reference and ReQuest services.
